Junkang Yang is an Associate at the Hum Law Firm. He received his Master of Law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2019 and his Bachelor of Law degree from China University of Political Science and Law in 2011. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2023. Junkang possesses a broad range of legal experience, which helps him understand employment law from different perspectives. In addition to his work at Hum Law on Employment Law for Employers and Employees, he developed comprehensive investigation plans and conducted interviews with complainants, respondents, and witnesses for workplace investigations. Under the guidance of Ms. Hum, he drafts detailed reports and findings letters for Workplace Investigations.
Before joining the Hum Law Firm, he worked as an associate in a local litigation firm in China. In this position, Junkang focused on employment, business and construction law. Before working as a litigator, Junkang practiced real estate law in an international law office, where he represented hotel owners in negotiations with hotel management companies. Junkang also assisted in establishing labour and employment by-laws when he worked as an intern in a building material company. He is a licensed lawyer in mainland China.
Junkang is enthusiastic about volunteer activities. When he was an undergraduate student in Beijing, He worked at a Labour and Employment Legal Clinic placement, which exposed him to various employment law issues. While at Osgoode, Junkang volunteered as a case worker and triage coordinator at Pro Bono Ontario, where he appeared at the Toronto Small Claims Court, providing legal aid services to self-litigators.
Outside of work, Junkang enjoys playing basketball, badminton, and tennis!
Junkang is fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
